Same-Day Finish vs Studio Finish

If you’re looking at live wedding painting, you might’ve seen the options same-day finish and studio finish and thought…
“Okay, but what does that actually mean?”

Both options mean I’m painting live at your wedding, with guests watching the artwork come together throughout the day. The difference is really about time, detail, and what happens after the wedding.

Same-Day Finish

A same-day finish means your painting is fully completed by the end of your wedding day. If you’d like, we can even do a little reveal in the evening which guests always love.

Because everything happens live, the priority is:
• Likeness & expression (you still need to look like you)
• Emotion & vibe of the day
• A strong, painterly feel

To make this doable in a limited time:
• Clothing details are looser and more suggestive
• Backgrounds are simpler and atmospheric
• No live guest portraits (there’s only one pair of hands and a ticking clock!)

The practical bits
• 20% off compared to studio finish
• No varnish (paint needs about 3 days to dry first)
Works best if:
• You’re choosing a smaller canvas
• Your wedding is 6+ hours, giving me more painting time

Same-day finish is perfect if you love the idea of an expressive, energetic painting that’s ready to admire on the day itself.

Studio Finish

With a studio finish, I still paint live at your wedding. Guests can watch it evolve just like with the same-day option. After the wedding, the painting comes back to my studio for all the extra love and attention.

What that means
• More detail and refinement in clothing and background
• Careful colour balancing and depth
• A polished, finished look that takes time
• Small adjustments or refinements if needed

No matter what happens on the wedding day (lighting changes, tight timelines, surprise moments), the final painting will always be finished to a consistent, high standard.

Extra goodies
• Live guest portraits during the wedding
• Protective varnish once the painting has fully dried
• Better suited for larger canvases

Studio finish is great if you want the most detailed, refined version of your wedding painting while still having the magic of live art on the day.

Whichever you choose:
• Your painting is created live at your wedding
• Guests can watch it unfold throughout the day
• An end-of-day reveal is available (totally optional)
• The heart of the painting: emotion, connection, and memory is always the priority

Here’s a TLDR

Still not sure?

That’s totally normal. Every wedding day is different.

If you’re torn between the two, I’m more than happy to chat through your timeline, venue, and what matters most to you. We’ll figure out what fits your day best!

At the end of the day, there’s no “wrong” choice. Just the one that feels right for you
