I'm Maisy, a live wedding painter artist and portrait artist from Hong Kong, now based in Cardiff.
My love for drawing has been with me since I first held a pencil. Art has always been second nature to me. It’s not just something I do, it’s a part of who I am.
With a background in architecture and years of experience in observational drawing, I bring both technical skill and artistic instinct to every piece I create.
My painting style blends realistic portraiture with expressive brushwork to create timeless, emotion-rich artworks.
The Story Behind Clouds Live Sketching
Growing up watching anime, I developed a strong interest in characters and expression, which naturally led me to portraiture. I’ve always loved and good at capturing people’s likeness. There's something magical about seeing someone truly recognise themselves in a drawing.
I still remember the first time I sold an artwork at a school fair. The joy on the buyer’s face stuck with me. That feeling of creating something that makes people light up has never left.
For a long time, I wasn’t sure what to do with this talent. But when I discovered the world of live wedding painting, everything clicked. It’s such a meaningful, emotional job, turning someone’s most cherished moment into a piece of art they can keep forever. I feel incredibly lucky to have found a career that reflects my Ikigai , a Japanese concept that means "a reason for being".
Whether I’m painting a wedding, sketching guests at an event, or working on a private commission, my goal is always to create something that connects, something that moves people.
